Forums on Flecking.

I had a clean aviary re flecking then a few years ago I bought in two that’s right two pairs with minimal flecking from a top breeder now I have a flecking problem.

My solution, try and trace birds which have no relation to these birds and dispose of any which show even minimal relationship to them.

If they are hens breed with the cleanest cap cock not split to opaline and then all the cocks should come out with none flecked gen then breed these cocks to clean headed opaline to get none flecked opaline hens so i have been told

Yes you can breed with them just don’t double up on the fault, breed them with clean capped birds.

I have a Spangle Opaline Grey with some and a Spangle with a little, should I still breed with these birds or try and get rid of any birds with flecking?

No No! No! do not breed them double breeding will result in you creating a stud with inheritable flecks.

This flecking on the heads of any Budgerigars spoils the characteristic facial appearance and gives the birds an unbalanced appearance
